JULIA (CLAPP), b.1843, Greenbush (Scituate), MA, d.1930, Dorchester, MA, a daughter of Elijah Clapp and Harriet (Ford) of Greenbush (Scituate), MA. On 12/27/1870 in Greenbush (Scituate), MA m: GEORGE WEBSTER SPAULDING, b.1842, Scituate, MA, a son of Edwin Spaulding and Almeda (Coleman) of Scituate. They first resided on Ford Place in (Greenbush) Scituate, MA in a house her father built for them as a wedding present. By 1880 they resided in Dorchester, MA, where George was a hat and fur merchant. In 1896 Julia and George, along with their children George and Elsie, traveled in Europe for two years and were still there when the 'Great Gale' of 11/1898 crippled the Northeast, including Scituate, MA, where three of her brothers nearly drowned).
