Other survivors include four children, Dana Kemper of Kahoka, MO, Robb Kemper and his wife Lisa of St. Patrick, MO, Wendy Boggs and her husband Lewie of Kahoka, MO and Kelly Kemper and his partner Gary Rawls Sr. of Norfolk, VA, four grandchildren, Tasha Kerr and her husband Anthony Kerr, Jeremy Kemper, Dillon Kemper and Austin Kemper, two great-grandchildren, Aliyah Kemper and Natalie Kerr, four step-grandchildren, ten step-great-grandchildren, two brothers, Ron Kemper and his wife Bev of Coos-Bay, OR and Gerald Kemper and his wife Helen of Montrose, IA and one sister, Lela Tillotson of Burlington, IA. He was preceded in death by his mother, an infant son, Daniel Leroy Kemper, one brother, Jerry Kemper and several aunts and uncles.
After Donald graduated from high school, he joined the United States Navy and proudly served his country during the Cuban Crisis. Donald had been employed by Roquette America in Keokuk for twenty-five years until his retirement in 2004. He attended Bible Baptist Church in Kahoka, Mo. He was a member of NRA. Donald was a hunter and especially enjoyed hunting elk in Colorado. He also enjoyed reading western novels and mushroom hunting. He loved traveling and visiting people and places and making wonderful memories.
A funeral service will be held at 9:30 a.m., Friday at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk with Pastors Glen Yoder and Mike Shea officiating. Burial with military rites will be in the Montrose Cemetery in Montrose, IA. Visitation will be held after 3 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with family meeting with friends from 6-8 p.m. Memorials may be made to the VA Medical Center in Iowa City, IA.
