Lillie Mae Howard Batson, age 96, of Draco Road, Lenoir, died Saturday, August 11, 2018 at Novant Health-Matthews Medical Center.

She was born May 12, 1922 in Pender County, NC to the late Bernard and Eliza Smithwick Howard.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Delma R. Batson; five brothers; and four sisters.

Mrs. Batson had worked as cafeteria manager at Oak Hill School and was a member of Bethel Advent Christian Church.

Survivors include her nieces and nephews, Sylvia Lowder and husband Chuck of Matthews, NC, Walter Thomas, Jr. and wife Susan of Locust, NC, Bonnie Griffin and husband Ronnie of Stanfield, NC, and Melanie Carriker and husband Ken of Charlotte, NC; numerous other nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at Bethel Advent Christian Church conducted by Rev. Don Key and Rev. Jerry Burnette. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
