Robert J. Hallett, 97, longtime resident of North Syracuse, passed away Thursday, May 28 at home. Robert was born in Syracuse and resided on Waterbury Drive in North Syracuse since 1958. He was the son of the late Albert B. and Mary (Daley) Hallett. Robert was a 1937 graduate of Eastwood High and received his Accounting Degree from Powelson Business Institute. He was a World War II Army Air Force veteran as a gunner onboard a B-29. He serv-ed in the Pacific, stationed in the Island of Tinian. Robert retired in 1980 after 30 years with Bristol Laboratories in Syracuse. He was a communicant of St. Daniel's Church in Syracuse. Robert was predeceased by his beloved wife of 67 years, the former Arleen McCarthy, in 2011; by their son, Robert Joseph Hallett, in 2009; and by his two brothers, Dale and Albert Hallett. Surviving are his five children: Kathleen Hallett of North Syracuse, John (Lynn) Hallett of Middlesex, NY, Margaret Anne Hallett, Patty Hallett, and Greg (Elaine) Hallett, all of Syracuse; his grandson, Avery Hallett of Albany; tep-grandchildren, Jon Palange, Megan and Jim Brody; several nieces and nephews, including Thomas (Hazel) Hallett of Vermont and Buddy (Barbara) Hallett of Michigan; and by his much loved canine companions. The Hallett family is grateful to Bob Hines and the Hospice staff for their exceptional care. Contributions in Robert's memory may be made to Francis House or Hospice of CNY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, 12:10 p.m., at St. Daniel's Church, 3004 Court St., Syracuse. Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery.
