Obituary for Raymond L. Mulske
The Lord called Raymond L. Mulske, age 87, home on May 28, 2015. Ray was residing at Sanford on Sunset Living Center, Mandan.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 am on Monday, June 1, 2015 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 904 8th Ave SE, Mandan, with Reverend Ryan Wolfe officiating. Burial will be at the ND Veterans Cemetery with full military honors.
Cremation has taken place. The family is welcoming visitors from 3 to 5 pm on Sunday, May 31, 2015, at Buehler-Larson Funeral Home, with a prayer service at 3 p.m. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the church service on Monday.
Ray was born November 25, 1927, in Braddock, ND to Reinhold and Pauline (Bier) Mulske. He was raised and educated in the Hazelton area. He enlisted in the US Army Air Force in May of 1946. On November 4, 1952, he married Dorothy Brunelle at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Mandan. They made their home in Mandan where they raised their four children. Ray started his career at Cass Clay Creamery (formerly Foremost Dairy) as a wholesale route driver and was later promoted to mechanical shop supervisor and retired in 1987 as a sales supervisor. He was proud of his multiple good-driving awards, which he earned during his career. Ray was a talented handyman. His enjoyment in helping others and skill in small engine repair kept him busy repairing lawn mowers and snow blowers out of his garage.
Ray enjoyed camping, fishing, traveling, and vacations. The annual family vacation to the Black Hills of South Dakota provided cherished memories, as did trips to Colorado and the west coast. Ray shared special times with his son-in-law Mike during their annual birth month trips to the casino. Ray was a kind and gentle man who loved visiting with people and would strike a conversation with anyone. No one was a stranger for long. He was happiest when he was spending time with his family.
Ray will be deeply missed by his three children, Becki (Mike) Barnhart, Rod (Kathy) Mulske, and Karen (Lee) Bergan; nine grandchildren, Sean (Anne) Barnhart, Tammy Mulske, Josh (Angie) Cryderman, Jared (Jenn) Barnhart, Ryan (Rosanna) Mulske, Tanya Cryderman, Emily Barnhart, Shannon (Jayson) Helseth, and Kayla Arntz; two step-grandchildren, Kristin and Eddie Bergan; ten great-grandchildren: Jude, Julia, and Elsie Barnhart , Jacob Barnhart, Greyson Barnhart, Jonah Helseth, Victoria Mulske, Mason Cryderman, and Caden and Carter Barksdale; and his two sisters, Darleen Renner, Fort Collins, CO and Diane Wolf, Bullhead, AZ.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dorothy; one son, Keith; and an infant sister, Evelyn.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Redeemer Lutheran Church Building Fund or Alzheimer’s Association.
