Mary was born on October 22, 1937 in Walworth, Wisconsin a daughter of the late Col. Arthur K Vincent U.S. Army Ret. and Isabel G. Boettcher Vincent. She graduated from Mathew Whaley High School in Williamsburg, Virginia, and went on to attend Stradford College of Danville, Virginia majoring in Home Economics.
Mary was a dedicated and beloved wife and homemaker, married to her husband George T. Abowd Sr. for over 55 years. She was a Fairview resident for over 41 years and was a member of the Lake Shore Country Club, the Westwood Racquet Club and the Erie Garden Club.
Mary was an avid tennis player and fan, and an avid reader. She enjoyed all types of home crafts, American Folk Art, cooking, antique collecting, gardening, bird watching and loved outdoor activities.
Along with her parents Mary was preceded in death by a daughter Teresa Abowd and her step-mother Maj. Estella Rand Vincent U.S. Army Ret.
She is survived by her husband George T. Abowd Sr. and five sons; George T. Abowd Jr and his wife Christine of Albany New York, Edward V. of Pittsburgh, Timothy and his wife Victoria of Plymouth, Michigan, James and his wife Denine of Pinckney, Michigan and Michael and his wife Jenay of Ann Arbor, Michigan. She is also survived by six grandchildren; Laurel, Thomas, Allison, Patrick, Gabriel, and Austin and a sister Laura Plemmons and her husband Ken.
