Arthur B "A. B" Truitt, 94, went to be with our Lord on Wednesday, May 27, 2015, in Fort Worth.
Interment: Shannon Rose Hill Cemetery.
A. B was a proud member for over 10 years. A. B was born Dec. 30, 1920, in Greenwood to Joe Truitt and Anna Vaughan Truitt. He married Gwendolyn Louise Majors on Aug. 19, 1948, in Fort Worth and was married for 42 years until her death on Dec. 2, 1990. A. B graduated from Texas Wesleyan University in 1948 with a bachelor's degree in physical education. He was senior class president, senior class favorite, vice president of Altoco and a member of Phi Epsilon Mu fraternity. He continued his education and received his master's degree from the University of North Texas. Before college, A. B served in the United States Coast Guard during World War II and was stationed in Waikiki, Hawaii, and Biloxi, Miss. Mr. Truitt began his career with the Fort Worth ISD in 1952 at Arlington Heights High School. He served as principal and vice principal to many schools in Fort Worth throughout his career, but he was most proud of his time spent as principal at Polytechnic High School from 1967-1978. He retired as an administrator in 1984 as the assistant director to secondary education. A. B was preceded in death by his daughter, Candy Kay Truitt Johnson. Survivors: Left behind to cherish his memory are his son, Ricky Truitt and wife, Cindy; granddaughters, Lauri Eudaly and Angie Peters and husband, Chad; three great-grandchildren, Cole, Cade and Katherine; and sisters, Hazel Howard and Mary Jo Leake.
