Mrs. Alfred Hovey Dies
ALLEN: Mrs. Alfred Hovey who had lived since 1963 with her son-in-law and daughter, Mr and Mrs. William (Ruth) Williams, died Wednesday in the home. Funeral service will be at 10 am Saturday in Hoberts-Blue-Barnett Chapel in Emporia. They will be conducted by the Rev. Stephen J. Williams, pastor of the First Congregational Church in Emporia. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Kansas City, Kansas.
Mrs. Hovey was the former Verda O. Morris, daughter of Barney Levi and Maggie Belle Fasnacht Morris. She was born Nov 7, 1887 in Ludell, Rawlins County. She was married in 1907, in Kansas City, to her first husband, Henry Stern, and she was married in 1916 to her second husband, Fred Hovey. Both husbands preceded her in death. Mrs. Hovey is survived by two daughters, Marie Coontz, Houston, Texas and Mrs. Williams; one brother, Dell Morris, Fair Grove, MO; one sister, Ethel Henderson, Tulsa, Okla; three grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren."
