George H. Bean, 78, the “Yankee Auctioneer” of 36 Meadow St., Florence, died this morning at Cooley Dickinson Hospital. Mr. Bean began his career as an auctioneer in 1913 and since then had carried on a thriving business as a renowned and affable auctioneer, and also as the proprietor of a second hand furniture and antiques business in Florence.

Mr. Bean conducted the dispersal auction of the household items from the estate of the late President Calvin Coolidge in 1936. He was an in demand guest speaker as well. Rest in peace, Col. Bean.
