Loree Ellen Klemme, 98, of Big Springs, NE, passed away Sunday, May 24, 2015 at the Sedgwick County Nursing Home in Julesburg. Visitation will be held Friday, May 29th from 5pm to 7pm at Austin-Tennant Funeral Home in Julesburg. Funeral services will be held at the United Methodist Church of Big Springs, NE, at 10:30am on Saturday, May 30th, with Pastor Chuck Rager officiating. Burial will follow at the Big Springs Cemetery beside her beloved husband.
Loree was born January 1, 1917, in Greeley County Nebraska, the daughter of Earl and Abbi Kahl. She was a 1934 graduate of Big Springs High School and taught school in the rural area near Big Springs. Loree married Ed Klemme, February 22, 1936. She and Ed farmed for fifty years.
Loree was noted for her culinary skills, gardening, and as an outstanding seamstress. Many family members and friends have been the recipients of her beautiful hand-made quilts. She was a member of the Big Springs United Methodist Church.
Surviving Loree are son Bruce Klemme and wife Susan of Greeley, CO, daughter Kathryn Hansen and husband Vincent of Springfield, IL, sisters Nelda (Robert) Forney of Shawnee, KS, Neva Ochs of Greeley, CO, brother Clifford (Vera) Kahl of Greeley, CO, three grandsons, one granddaughter, four great-grandsons, and two great-granddaughters.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother Keith Kahl.
