MARCH 16, 1921—MAY 5, 2015

BEDFORD — Glen Southern, age 94, of Bedford passed away on May 5, 2015, at 3:40 a.m. at his residence.

He was born in Monroe County on March 16, 1921, to Posey & Lena (Prince) Southern.

Glen married Annabelle Zike on August 20, 1966, in Harrodsburg and she survives.

He retired from Indiana University, where he was the associate manager of housing. He then went to work at NWSC Crane. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII. He attended Calvary Baptist Church for many years and also attended the 39th Street Christian Church in Bedford.

Survivors include his wife, Annabelle Southern of Bedford; three daughters, Carolyn Hawkins of Bedford, Connie (Delbert) Baker of Bedford, Leza (Tod) Corlett of Indianapolis; two sons, David (Debbie) Southern of Heltonville, and Sam (Patty) Halle of Merryville, Tennessee; one sister, Velma Bagwell of Bloomington; 10 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Gladys Fleetwood, Thelma Stone, Helen Kinser, Altha Kelley; three brothers, Herschel, Donald & Ansell Southern; two sons-in-law, Michael Hawkins, Sr. and Ronnie Collins; one great-grandson, Jared Michael Hawkins.

Funeral services will be on Friday, May 8, 2015, at 1 p.m. at Cresthaven Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Clover Hill Cemetery in Harrodsburg, military rites by Bedford American Legion Post #33, Rev. Michael Hawkins, officiating.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 7, 2015, from 4 until 8 p.m. at Cresthaven Funeral Home, and on Friday from noon until service time.

Glen loved to lead people to the Lord, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him, should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16.
