Doris Irene Burgess was born July 23, 1992, at Vassar, KS, the daughter of John and Priscilla (Jobe) Dennison. She was a practical nurse and had been a private nurse at Kansas Neurological Institute an St. Francis Hospital. Mrs. Burgess had lived in Topeka for forty years.
Doris and Ralph Burgess were married June 30, 1941, at Topeka. They owned and operated Green Acres Care Home at Fredonia, KS, for sixteen years.
Mrs. Burgess was preceded in death by a son, Eugene Burgess, and her parents, John and Pricilla Dennison.
Doris is survived by her husband, Ralph Burgess, of the home; two daughters, Connie Christy, Topeka, and Kathy Johnston, Parsons, KS; two sons, Ed Burgess, Topeka, and Larry Burgess, Fredonia, KS; a sister, Emma Morstorf, Topeka; and three brothers, Charles Dennison, Burlingame, KS, Alvin Dennison, Garnett, and Lloyd Dennison, Garnett.
Mrs. Burgess will lie in state from 1:00 P.M., Thursday, January 11, to 11:00 A.M., Friday, January 12, at the Parker-Price Mortuary, Topeka, where the family will receive friends from 7:00-8:00 P.M. on Thursday.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society, 1315 SW Arrowhead Road, Topeka, KS 66604.
Parker-Price Mortuary, Topeka, is in charge of arrangements.
