John A. Roblin, 88, Bradenton, FL, formerly of Oriskany, NY, died suddenly February 10, 2012.
John was the son of Allen W. and Florence (Bagley) Roblin; brother of Peter F.Roblin (deceased) Watertown, NY. Predeceased by his wife of 61 years, Jeanne and John Roblin were teachers at Oriskany Central School for over 25 years. In addition to algebra, Mr. Roblin taught Driver's Ed., drove buses,worked summers as a janitor, and was Coach of the OCS Golf Team. The Roblins' retired to winter at Westwinds Village, FL, and summer at The CedarLake Club, Clayville, NY. In 1942 upon entering the U.S. Army Air Corps, Sgt. John Roblin proudly served theCountry in WWII. As a radio-navigator, he flew a most treacherous route "Over the Hump"Over the Himalaya Mountains, and into China in the India - China - Burma Theater. With his service memories,he always recalled the loss of his best childhood pal, Lt. John Green, lost in the Pacific.
John earned a BS at SUNY Oswego, an MS at Syracuse University, and won a National ScienceFoundation Grant to attend Colgate University. He was a member of the NEA, NYSRTA, AmericanLegion, Elks, Moose, and volunteered with the Bradenton Boys Club. Surviving are his son, Allen A. and Maxine (Grems) Roblin, Whitesboro, NY; daughter, Marjorie L. Roblin,Providence, RI; granddaughter, Jennifer and Mark Spinella; great-granddaughter, Lilianna Jeanne,New Hartford, NY; sister-in-law, Jacqueline M. Bintz, Carthage, NY; and all the pets.In addition, John will be deeply missed by his beloved companion, Virginia L. Daily, and herfamily, Bradenton, FL.
