"Dad" Shaw is No More

Veteran G.N. Engineer Passes to His Rest Sunday Morning -- Mourned by Hundreds

After a short illness of acute Brights disease, F.F. Shaw, the veteran engineer, died at his home in this city shortly after 6 o'clock Sunday morning. The news of his death cast a shade of gloom over the entire city for "Dad" Shaw was one of the most popular men in the city. The funeral services were held from the opera house Tuesday afternoon. Rev. Powell conducting them.

The F.O.E. and the B. of L.E. of which orders he was a member, attended in a body. The Eagle band played a number of beautiful dirges in honor of the departed Brother.

"Dad" Shaw was born at Greenwood, Maine, April 8, 1857, and for twenty years was an engineer. When a young man he became an engineer on the New York and New England railroad and then went to Portland, Ore., where he was engineer on the U.P. road.

Hundred of people in this city will miss "Dad" Shaw.
