James A. Allen began contributing to "The Gospel Adovicate" in 1901. He became editor of the "Advocate" in May of 1923 and remained in that post until August 1, 1930.

In July, 1931 Mr. Allen began publishing "The Apostolic Times" in Nashville,Tennessee and continue to publish that magazine until his poor eyesight forced him to suspend operation in July of 1954.

Mr. Allen was a well known evangleist for the Church of Christ in the Nashville area and preached for the Lindsey Avenue Church for fifteen years.
