Aithel G. Cooper, 89, Tarkio, Mo., died Saturday, Oct. 25. 1997, at a Tarkio health-care center.

He was born on Oct. 3, 1908, near Forbes, Mo., where he attended high school. He lived in Oregon, Mo., and Fairfax, Mo., before moving to Tarkio.

Mr. Cooper was a heavy equipment operator for Gordon Brothers Quarries, retiring in 1973.

He was a former member of Fairfax Kiwanis and Oregon Kiwanis, and of the Forest City I.O.O.F.

On Nov. 1, 1930, he married LoLa M. Nicholson in Oregon. She preceded him in death in 1995. He also was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene H. and Grace Cooper.

Surviving: a son, Gary G., Tarkio; a brother, Erie, Oregon; two sisters, Wilma Derr, Oregon, and Faye Kirk, Independence, Mo.; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two step great-grandchildren.

Services: Tuesday, at Chamberlain Funeral Home, Oregon, Mo.
Burial: Maple Grove Cemetery, Oregon, Mo.
