Jettye was born November 4, 1924 in Blytheville, Arkansas. She was the daughter of Alvin Huffman and Lula Crowe Huffman. She departed this life at the Dyersburg Manor in Dyersburg, Tennessee, while in hospice care on May 21, 2015. At the age of 90 years, 6 months and 17 days.
After graduating from high school, Jettye attended University of Mississippi, graduating in 1946. She was a devoted fan of the Ole Miss football team and savored every victory. She was a member of the Kappa Delta Sorority. On June 12, 1955, she was united in marriage to Mr. Mike Cunningham. They were married for 52 years. He preceded her in death in 2008.
Jettye was devoted to her family. She enjoyed a good game of bridge and was a member of a bridge club that met monthly.
She is survived by her sons, H. Putt Cunningham and wife Penny of Collierville and Jon Cunningham and wife Shannon of Dallas, Georgia, three grandsons, Andrew, Sam and Michael Cunningham, brother and sister in laws, Richard and Susan Cunningham Haddad of Upper St. Clair, PA, special nieces and nephews, other family members and friends.
The family is especially appreciative of her loving caretaker of the past three years, Tina Stevens.
Services were held Monday, May 25 with visitation at 10 a.m. and graveside services at 12.
Pallbearers for Mrs. Cunningham were: Todd Campbell, Jeff Pierce, Jack Tipton, Michael Tipton, Sam Cunningham and Michael Cunningham.
H.S. Smith Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
