Harriet Faye Hughes

Harriet Hughes age 63 passed this life and entered eternity on Sunday, May 10, 2015 while surrounded by her loving family. She was born on August 20, 1951 in Porum, Oklahoma to Jim Hughes and Mable Beatrice (Murray) Hughes. After completing high school in Muskogee, Oklahoma graduating with the class of 1969 she worked various jobs, the last job she held was at the Muskogee Regional Medical center in Muskogee but the one job that stole her heart was at Hamlin’s on the eastside of Muskogee. Although she never had kids of her own she was a mother to many children and helped raise them and guide them on the right path. Harriet had a heart of gold that loved to help people in need. She loved to dance, play bingo on Friday nights at the Muskogee V.F.W., loved to bake pies and was a big asset in cooking for the family holiday dinners. Harriet faced several battles in life but she never lost her faith and kept pushing forward to the end goal that God had planned for her.She was preceded in death by her parents Jim and Mable, brothers James, Jimmy Hughes, sister’s Ulamia Yvonne Hughes and Thelma “Windy” Anderson.Left to cherish her memories and carry on her legacy is her brothers Fred Hughes and his wife Mary and Kenneth Hughes both of Muskogee, Oklahoma. Three sisters Phyllis Banks, Allene Page and Laura Waymire and her husband C.J. all of Muskogee, Oklahoma. One step daughter Terrin Lynn, numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews who are going to miss her dearly.
A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2015 at 2:00 p.m., at the Shipman Funeral Home Chapel with Alice McGee officiating. Services were under the direction of Shipman Funeral Home & Crematory in Wagoner, Oklahoma.
