He was a member of the Galveston Bay Power Squadron. He was also the founder and owner of Akridge Plumbing Company.
He is survived by his wife Naomi Katherine Pitts Akridge and daughter Geraldine Patterson, both of Pasadena; sons, William A. Akridge of Pasadena and James Scarbrough of Orange, Texas; sister, Virta Bell Dunnahoe of Houston; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be Monday at 10 am at the Colonial Chapel with Rev. Paul Lee officiating. Internment will be at Grandview Memorial Park.
