Mr. Nuckolls was the son of the late Roy T. and Agnes Roper Nuckolls. At the age of 18, the family moved from Cumming, Ga. to Bowdon, Ga. where is father managed Bell Acre farms in the Dot Community where they grew cotton and corn. He enlisted in the U.S. Army on September 19, 1942 and served during World War II. For the first eighteen months of his service he was stationed at Camp Forrest in Tullahoma, Tennessee, which was one of the Army’s largest training bases during the war, and Camp Pickett in Virginia. The remainder of his service was spent in China, Burma, and India. He was a Technical Ordnance Sergeant and repaired tanks in the war zones for which he received the Bronze Star. He was discharged from the Army on January 6, 1946.

After his military service, Mr. Nuckolls worked for Lockheed Aircraft in Marietta, Georgia as an aircraft mechanic and welder until he retired in 1985.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Nuckolls was preceded in death by his brothers, Melvin Nuckolls, Hugh Lee Nuckolls, and Hollis Nuckolls.

Survivors include his wife, Hazel Lovvorn Nuckolls; his daughters and sons-in-laws, Carole N. Cook of Carrollton, Judy N. and Phil Carter of Braselton, Georgia; and Paula N. and Mike Waters, of Carrollton; his grandchildren and their spouses, Charisse Cook Fournaris and her husband, Nick, of Canton, Georgia; Lance Carter of Lawrenceville, Georgia, Chad Cook of Bowdon, Christy Carter Bowman of Monroe, North Carolina, Cam Waters and his wife, Jessica, of Carrollton, and Cory Waters, also of Carrollton; nine great-grandchildren; and his siblings, Doris “Doc” Nuckolls of Marietta, Georgia, Donald Nuckolls of Alpharetta, Georgia; and Lillian Nuckolls, also of Marietta.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 26, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. at Corinth Baptist Church. Rainwater Funeral Home directing.
