ST. PAULS — Mrs. Bessie Gibson Newton, 65, died Thursday. Funeral will be at 3 p.m. Saturday in McNeill Funeral Home conducted by the Revs. B.F. Meacham and John Wallace. Burial will be in Gardens of Faith Cemetery, Lumberton.

Surviving: three sons, Roy and Thomas, both of St. Pauls and Duncan Newton of Hope Mills; a daughter, Mrs. Ray Durden of St. Pauls; three brothers, Jack and Fred, both of St. Pauls and Tommy Gibson of Raeford; three sisters, Mrs. Wilbur Singletary of Tar Heel, Mrs. Essie Ponds of Hamlet and Mrs. Sam McDonald of Shelby; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
