After completing the 9th grade, she married Blackie Williams on July 25, 1948 and settled on a farm in Beaver County, Oklahoma. To this union, three children were born: Delilah, Barbara and Jim. She worked alongside Blackie on the farm, plowing, mowing, milking cows, cutting wheat and anything else that needed to be done. She was a resident of Beaver County, Oklahoma, until 1987 when she moved to Las Vegas, Nevada. Ruby was a cosmetologist and a member of the Baptist Church.
After receiving her cosmetology license, she worked for L W Speer until she bought the shop from him. She owned and operated it for several years.
In the early 1970's Ruby suffered a heart attack. After recovering she began driving a truck with Blackie from coast to coast using the CB handles "Blondie and Dagwood". They hauled rodeo stock for Lloyd Barby, large machinery for Joe Hamilton and liquids for Groendyke. Every summer they took off for wheat harvest. Their grandchildren would come to help for the summer. Boy, she loved that!
After Blackie's sudden death in 1986, Ruby moved to Las Vegas to be near her brother Eddie Akridge. While in Vegas, she met and married Irving "Jack" Jacobs in 1993. She then gained two more children, Mitch and Lori and four more grandchildren.
Ruby passed on May 19, 2015 in Las Vegas, Nevada at the age of eighty two.
She is survived by her son, James Williams of Las Vegas, Nevada; her daughters, Delilah Wisener of Lubbock, Texas, Barbara Wright of Forgan, Oklahoma; stepson, Mitch Jacobs of Hidden Hills, California, stepdaughter, Lori D’Amore of Las Vegas, Nevada; 9 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 7 great-great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
