"Clarice Brunkow was born on November 12, 1908 to Frank and Sophia (Kramer) Frank in Ord, Nebraska. She was the youngest of five children. She died on Wednesday, Jan. 17, 1996 at the Winner Regional Healthcare Center at the age of 87 years.
The Frank family moved when Clarice was very young, to a homestead in the Ideal community. Clarice received her education in the Ideal Schools graduating from Ideal High School.
She married Clarence Brunkow in March of 1935 and returned to Nebraska living in the town of Western, NE. A son was born in March of 1936. Clarice resided in Nebraska until 1946, and after the death of her husband, she returned to Winner, SD. She remained a resident of Winner until her death.
Clarice worked for the Outlaw Trading Post for over 30 years. In her youth she was an active member in the Ideal Church playing the piano for services. Her hobbies included crocheting, embroidery work, piecing quilts and baking cookies. Being she was the only girl with four brothers she gained the nickname "Sis", through the years this nickname stuck and she was known to many as "Sis" and to her nieces and nephews she was "Auntie Sis"........
......She is preceded in death by her father, mother, husband, four brothers (Ben, Hobart, Jim and Joe), a niece and a nephew." IN ADDDITION, THIS FROM OBIT: "Services were held at 10 a.m. on Monday, January 22, 1996 at the United Methodist Church in Winner. Burial was in the Plainview Cemetery in Western, Nebraska. Mason Funeral Home of Winner was in charge of the arrangements."
