Clay Evans Dies

Clay Evans, 86 year old resident of McKee died at 2:45 p.m. September 29 after a one year illness of a heart condition. Born in Lee County, May 29, 1880, he was the son of William and Mary Jane Newman Evans. He was married to Lucy Damrel, who preceded him in death. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Christian Church. Survivors include four daughter, Elizabeth Bates, Cincinnati, Ohio; Pearl Farmer, Cincinnati, Ohio; Euthemia Sims, Cincinnati, Ohio; Nannie Dunsil, McKee Kentucky; one son, Ben Evans, Cincinnati, Ohio; three sisters, Cora Terrill, Middletown, Ohio; Lillie Selby, Franklin, Ohio; Nannie Bennett, Franklin, Ohio; Two brothers, Charlie Evans, Beattyville, Ky.; Walter Evans, Richmond,Ky.; 24 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, October 1 at the Justice and Lakes Funeral Home by Rev. Fountaine Jones. Burial was in the Damrel Cemetery at Ida Mae, Ky. Under the direction of Justice and Lakes Funeral Home.

Note: Clay's grave must be on the right hand side of Lucy's grave and is unmarked.

Note: There is evidence that indicates, Clay was briefly married to Sarah Sallie Hamilton, the sister of Lucy Hamilton Damrel, Charles Damrel's wife, her FAG # 61376076.
