Oil City Derrick, May 2015:
Alice M. Marvin, 85, of Seneca died at 9 p.m. Monday, May 18, 2015, at the Golden LivingCenter in Oil City. She was born Jan. 20, 1930, in West Monterey, to Rev. Bernard Charles and Alice Walton Himes.

She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Oil City, enjoyed hunting and fishing with her husband, and spending time at Oil Creek State Park, worked as an elementary teacher with the Clarion Area School District for 30 years.

On July 31, 1977, in Clarion, she married Edward E. Marvin, who survives, with two daughters, Carolyn Kuhls and husband, Dave, of Oil City and Brenda Herring and husband, Gerald ,of Gettysburg; five granddaughters Amy Kuhls, Shelly Viscomi and husband, Anthony, Jamie Pfendler and husband, Norm, Jessica White and husband, Randy, and Marene Hostler; five great-grandsons; two great-granddaughters; brother, Donald Himes and wife, Julie; sister, Shirley Kraus and husband, Leonard, all of Florida; and many nieces and nephews. Deceased are her parents; brothers, Rev. George Himes, Rev. Thomas Himes, Rev. Raymond Himes, Alvin, Charles, and Robert Himes, and infant twin brothers.

Services will be at 11 am Friday at Hile-Best Funeral Home, Inc., 2781 Route 257 in Seneca, Cranberry Township, with Rev. Byron Myers, pastor of Grace United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will follow in Lamey Cemetery near Dempseytown.
