Sylvia Clement, 78, of Stigler, died Sunday, Nov. 1, 1998, in Ft. Smith, AR. Services were held at 10:30 am Wednesday Nov 4,1998 at the Main Street Baptist Church in Stigler, with Rev. Donnie Creittendon officiating. Burial followed at Stigler Cem under the direction of Mallory Funeral Home, Stigler. Pallbearers were Homer Smith, Hersel Brown, Ray Cloud, Jack Johnson, Steve Johnson, and Marion Newton. Honorary pallbearers were Earnest McKee, John Hugh Dickson, Carroll Huggins, Virgil Vaughn, Roland Dawley, Woodrow Floyd, Bob Alley, and Henry Street.
Clement was born Jan. 10, 1920 to Charles Henry and Roville (Yeargan) Campbell in Opal, AR. She was a Sunday School teacher, secretary, served 29 years at REC, and was a member of ESA and WMU (Women's Mission Union). She married Bill Clement in June of 1939.
She is survived by her husband, Bill of the home; two daughters, Sandra McClellan and husband Lee of Broken Arrow, Barbara Eaton and husband, Joe of Stigler; five sisters, Ruby Elms of California, Lahoma Keck of Ada, Beulah Johnson of McAlester, Jessie Epperson of Wharton, TX, Mertie Treet of McAlester; four granddaughters, Shelly Melia, Kathy Hitchcock, Susan Holt, Michael Elizabeth Clement; five grandsons, Steve McClellan, David Eaton, Daniel Eaton, Shane Ellison, Alex Souza; four great granddaughters, Victoria Holt, Staci Souza, Meshana Clement, Emily Janesse Souza; and five great grandsons, Tyler McClellan, Cody McClellan, Blake McClellan, Marcos Souza and Will Clement.
She is preceded in death by one son, Michael Clement; one daughter, Joan Clement; two brothers, Cecil Campbell, A.J. Campbelll; and six sisters, Lee Cooper, Nora Barger, Effie Standridge, Bertie Campbell, Opal Davis, and Wilma Campbell.
