Pay Last Tribute to Byrd Pruitt at Pruitt Cemetery, East of the City

Of the large family of Pruitt boys who came to Indian territory in the 80's only Jud and Henry are left, since the burial of Byrd, in the Pruitt cemetery Sunday. Both of the surviving brothers and their wives attended the funeral.

Among other relatives at the funeral were Flossie Pruitt Haas of Oklahoma City; she was a daughter of Clint Pruitt and was raised by the Pruitt family and is devoted to them. Mary Gene Savage was another relative from Oklahoma City. Clint Pruitt of Valliant was present. He was a son of Edgar Pruitt, better known as Babe Pruitt. Two of Judd Pruitt's granddaughters present were Cannilea Pruitt, teacher in the Wheeler school, and Mrs. Lawrence Risner of Lone Grove.

Another relative came from Denton, Texas, Dr. William Bruce, who for 50 years has been principal of Denton city schools. He was accompanied by another cousin of the Pruitts, Mrs. Davis. Mrs. Jeff Craddock, who was Hassie Pruitt, oldest daughter of Judd Pruitt was present. She is the oldest niece and oldest grandchild in the Pruitt family."
