Mildred J. Barney, 67, of Burlington, passed away on Saturday, October 18, 2014 at her home, surrounded by family.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. at Burlington Cemetery, located just west of Burlington, on M-60. Rev. David Mackaluso of Wakeshma Community Church will officiate.

Mildred was born on April 21, 1947 in Battle Creek, Michigan to Jack H. and Leila M. (Harrison) King. She graduated from Harper Creek High School in 1964 and married Randall W. Barney on December 18 that same year. The couple made their home in Augusta until moving to Burlington Township in 1975, where they have lived ever since. Mildred had worked for the Post Cereal Company in Battle Creek for 32 years before retiring in 2001.

Mrs. Barney was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother to her family. She loved Christmas time and all that came with the season; making Christmas cookies and her fudge that had to be just right. She enjoyed living in her country setting where she could watch the birds and tend to her flower garden. Family was everything to Mildred and she will be missed by all of those she leaves behind.

Mildred is survived by her husband of 49 years, Randy Barney, her children Brenda Barney of Quincy and Kim (Tim) Bridges of Burlington, her brother Roger (Diane) King of Battle Creek, her sister June (Steve) Hard of Burlington, her grandchildren; Devin Barker, Lauren (Brandon) Forker, Bradley Barker, Courtney (Haley Evans) White, Tyler Klopfenstein, Lance Klopfenstein, Katie (David Collins) Bridges and her great-grandchildren; Dillyn Cryderman and Carter Barker. She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Kurtis Barney in 2000, her granddaughter Kelli Jo Cryderman, her sister Shirley Hickey and her brother E.J. King.

Memorial contributions in honor of Mildred may be directed to Oaklawn Hospice. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Lighthouse Funeral & Cremation in Union City.
