Annie R. Clarke (Abernathy), 51, of Chesapeake, Virginia, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 14, 2015.
Annie was born February 19, 1964, in Portsmouth, Virginia, to the late Garland and Geraldine Abernathy.
Annie grew up in Corpus Christi, Texas, and was a 1982, graduate of Richard King High School.
Annie retired from the U.S. Navy in 2009, with 20 years of service. She then graduated from Old Dominion University with a Bachelor of Science degree. Annie enjoyed NASCAR, camping, cooking, gardening outdoors and visiting with friends and family.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 19 years, Christopher 'Kit' Clarke; her siblings, John Abernathy, Vicki Waddell, Andy Abernathy, Deborah Weese, and Garland Abernathy Jr., She also leaves behind many beloved extended family members and numerous friends; too many to count.
A funeral service will be held at the Great Bridge Chapel of Oman Funeral Home & Crematory, 653 Cedar Rd., Chesapeake, VA 23322. The interment will follow in Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, Suffolk, VA.
The visitation will be held at the funeral home.
