In April of 1950 Gerald married Mary Parahlee Odom in Mobile, Mobile County, Alabama. They had two sons: Gerald Eugene "Butch" Dossett, Jr. in 1961 and Robert Otis Dossett in 1962. The couple divorced not long after their second son was born.
