He was the son of Ordy Dee and Lela Maude (Minor) Griffin and married Mary Annette Keener - 03 Jul 1947 - Blytheville, Mississippi Co., Arkansas. His obituary follows:

Mr. Alton Griffin, 79, a resident of Dell, died Saturday (July 9, 1996) at Baptist Memorial Hospital - Blytheville. He was retired from ACF Industries in St. Louis. Born in Blanche, he had been a Dell resident for the past 12 years. He was a veteran of World War II and serves at the Battle of the Bulge in Germany. He was also a member of the New Grove Baptist Church in Blanche. Mr. Griffin leaves his wife, Mrs. Annette Keener Griffin of Dell; two sons, Jimmy Wayne Griffin of Woodville, Virginia, and Jerry Alton Griffin of Dell; two sisters, Eleanor Holland and Mildred West, both of Lincoln County; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at Cobb Funeral Home Chapel in Blytheville. Interment followed in Dogwood Cemetery.
