Cleta Magdalena Egley, age 94 of rural Alexandria, MO, died Thursday, December 8, 2005 in Keokuk Area Hospital.She was born August 22, 1911 in Clark County, MO, near Alexandria, the daughter of J. W. and Amelia Hoewing Dienst.On September 21, 1934, she was united in marriage to Herbert H. Egley. He preceded her in death on April 1, 1990.Survivors include a daughter, Virginia Callison and her husband, Ronald, of Kahoka, MO; two sisters-in-law, Wilma Dienst of Kahoka, MO and Thelma Williams of Colorado Springs, CO; six grandchildren: Kevin Callison of Alexandria, MO, Mark Egley and his wife, Valerie, of Poncho Springs, CO, Diana Hacker and her husband, Jim, of Rayville, MO, Daryl Egley and his wife, Deana, of Kahoka, MO, Harold Arlen Egley, Jr. of Tallahassee, FL, and, Carrie James and her husband, Scott, of Kahoka MO; nine great grandchildren: Tyler Callison of Alexandria, MO, Nahlea Egley of Denver, CO, Daniel Egley of Poncho Springs, CO, Errick Shaffer of Lawson, MO and Trey Hacker of Rayville, MO, Brock and Austin Egley of Kahoka, MO, and Bode and Brayen James of Kahoka, MO; two great-great grandchildren, Christian and Mason Shaffer; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives.She was preceded in death by her husband; her son, Harold Egley; and, two brothers, Kermit and Floyd Dienst.Cleta was a graduate of Kahoka High School. She was confirmed on June 6, 1926 into the Missouri Synod of the Lutheran Church and was a member of the Messiah Lutheran Church in Keokuk and a former member of the Ladies Aid Society. She had played the piano and organ for various churches in her younger years and also school programs.Cleta was housewife and farm wife. She worked with Herbert in the fields and also cared for livestock and the garden. She had enjoyed sewing, crocheting and piecing quilts. Her grandchildren were a very important part of her life and she treasured the time she spent caring for them.Funeral services will be held Monday, December 12, 2005 at 1:30 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka with burial in Frazee Cemetery.
