Funeral services for L. C. Rhodes, 81, pioneer farmer of the Ennis community, were held yesterday morning in Keever’s Chapel in Ennis, with the Rev. W. O. Patterson, pastor of the Antioch Baptist Church, officiating.
Mr. Rhodes died at his home on South Owens Street Wednesday morning.
Interment was made in Myrtle Cemetery, Ennis.
Pallbearers were T. J. Seals, W. C. Lawless, W. C. Shaw, U. H. Shaw, W. I. Dungan and Chester Hays.

Lemuel's mother, Lucinda, died
in childbirth with brother, Jeremiah.
Lemuel's father, Thomas, left his
5 children with her family never to
be heard from again. It is unknown
where he went.
Lemuel and his 4 siblings were divided
up among Lucinda's family to raise.

In 1860:
John & Joanna were with uncle Washington Johnson & his family.
Mary & Jeremiah were with Lucinda's parents Lemuel & Mary Johnson.
Lemuel was with aunt, Nancy Westbrook & family

In 1870:
John, Joanna, Mary, & Jeremiah were with their unmarried aunt Mary P. Rhoades.
Lemuel was still with aunt Nancy Westbrook
