If you’ve ever seen someone dancing down the aisle at the grocery store, it just may have been Austin J. “A.J.” Alexander.
He had a giving and goofy personality, said his mom, Amity White of Omaha.

“He just wanted to make everyone happy. He was always doing goofy stuff to make everyone laugh. He didn’t care where he was,” she said.
Alexander’s family will miss his exuberant spirit. The 24-year-old Omahan suffered a severe asthma attack and died Tuesday at Bergan Mercy Medical Center.
He’d struggled with asthma since he was 8 years old and found it difficult to pay for the $600-a-month preventive asthma medications, White said.
The morning of the attack, he ran out of solution for his nebulizer. His girlfriend of five years, Megan Wadum, went to get more. When she returned, she found him unresponsive and called 911. He was in a medically induced coma at the hospital when his heart stopped. White said the “amazing” staff at Bergan tried for an hour but was unable to revive him.
Alexander was born in Omaha and attended Ralston High School. He worked in landscaping — not the best job for someone with asthma, but he loved the outdoors enough that he overlooked the discomfort, White said, quoting him: “It’s in my blood. This is what I want to do.”
He loved fishing, hanging out with his family for game nights and playing basketball.
Other survivors include dad Joel White; brother Branndon Alexander; uncles Damian Alexander and Rocky Runyan; grandmother Gail Runyan and great-grandfather Al Carmicheal, all of Omaha.
Services were Saturday at Bethany Funeral Home in La Vista.
