Mr. Mead, who lived at 5040 SW Hilltop Lane, was born in Portland June 5, 1906, and was a graduate of Jefferson High School, Culver Military Academy , The University of Oregon and the UO School of Law. He had practiced law in Portland for 42 years.
He had been a major in the Air Transport Command during World War II, was a member of Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity and was past president of the University Club.
He also belonged to the Multnomah Club, was a member of the American College of Trial Lawyers and was a life trustee of Lewis & Clark College.
Survivors include his wife, Aletha; a son, George Jr., Portland, and a daughter, Patricia Mead Wall, Madras.
