Virgil Lee Nelson, Sr. 72, of Indianapolis, passed away May 2, 2009. He was born November 26, 1936 in Indianapolis. Virgil was a member of Moose Lodge #17, VFW #2999, and the Eagles Lodge #211, and retired from RCA after many years. Visitation will be Tuesday, May 5 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Shirley Brothers Irving Hill Chapel, 5377 E. Washington St., with funeral services Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. Virgil is survived by his daughter, Paulette L. Proctor; sons, David and Virgil L. Nelson, Jr. ; step-daughter, Cathy Cruise; sisters, Roxie Ash, Juanita Simpson, Elizabeth Westlake, Barbara Drennon, Sue Leverenz, and Linda Helman; brothers, Charles and Virgil "Tom" Nelson; 8 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Virgil was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil R. and Edith Nelson; his wife, Marie Nelson; and sister, Betty Nelson.
