3 Jul 1991: Harvey Hammer Jr., 65, died yesterday in Good Samaritan Hospital. He was retired from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation; attended United Methodist Church; was a World War II Navy veteran; and was a member of Chemical, Independent, Friendship and Bellegrove fire companies, Lebanon County Fire Chiefs Association, Central Pennsylvania and Pennsylvania Firemen's associations, Pennsylvania Forestry Association, Amvets, American Legion, VFW Post 23, and Destroyer Escort Association. He had been Goodwill Fire Company chief engineer for 17 years and a Pennsylvania forest fire warden for 40 years. Surviving are a companion, Emma Schroff; three sons, Garry of Lebanon, and Harvey III and Jeffrey, both at home; two daughters, Dianne Custard of Annville, and Cindy of Palmyra; sister Pauline Myner of Lebanon; five grandchildren; a nephew and a niece. Service Saturday in Christman's Funeral Home. Burial in Cornwall Cemetery. [Evening News Harrisburg]
