Joyce Dorene Sauchyn
March 13, 1927 August 24, 2014
Our beloved mother, Mrs. (Joyce) Dorene Sauchyn (nee Bebee), of Edmonton passed away peacefully on August 24, 2014. She will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by her children Gwenne (Jay) of Edmonton, David (Mary) of Regina, and James of Edmonton; her grandchildren Jesse (Lyn) Sweeney and Robert, Leah, and Hannah Sauchyn; her great grandchildren Hayleigh, Mackenzie, and Ava Sweeney; her sisters Audrey Lang and Gwen Paranchych; her sisters-in-law Pearl Bebee, Olive Sowchyn, and Kate Kennedy; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 48 years, John Sauchyn, in 1997, her sisters Reta Hill and Helene Busk, and her brother Joe Bebee. Dorene was born on March 13, 1927, in Hanna, AB, to Guy and Myrtle Bebee; and after spending her early years there the family moved to a farm near Hardisty, AB, where she enjoyed a wonderful childhood in a loving family. She especially cherished her roots on a prairie farm. Dorene was loved as a dear friend by so many people whose lives she touched with her generosity, compassion, and eternal optimism. Her pleasant nature and positive outlook affected everyone she met, and everyone she met adored and loved her. She enjoyed the simple pleasures in life—a good meal, a hot cup of tea, watching her soap operas and sports on TV, shopping, baking, and visiting family and friends. Her favourite saying was "I think every day is a good day," and she lived by this positive philosophy all her life. She was raised in a spiritual family, attending the United Church where she sang in the church choir; and her strong faith guided her throughout her life. This was not death for dear Mother, but the dawn of eternal life. A memorial service will be held on August 30 at 1:00 at Riverbend United Church (14907—45 Ave NW, Edmonton), followed by a lunch. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of your choice in Dorene's memory.
