Raymond T. Taraszewski, 87, of New Kensington, formerly of Frazer Township, passed away Sunday, Feb. 5, 2012, in Good Samaritan Hospice at Concordia, Jefferson Township. He was born May 7, 1924, in Natrona, a son of the late Joseph and Josephine Stubenski Taraszewski. Raymond retired as a meat cutter, having worked for many local supermarkets, and was the former owner of a small market in Creighton. He was also employed by Union Spring in Verona. He was a member of Our Lady of Victory Roman Catholic Church in Harwick, the Slovak Club in Creighton and the Fire and Police Auxiliary in Frazer Township. Raymond enjoyed gardening, animals, was an avid Steelers fan and was proud of his Polish heritage. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Betty Ann Nickolaus Taraszewski. He was the loving father of Quentin (Lisa) Taraszewski, of Oklahoma Borough, and Karen Taraszewski Barnett, of Alpharetta, Ga.; proud Pap Pap of Melissa (Mark) Phillips, Quentin Taraszewski and Lindsay (Mike) Estes; and brother of Theresa Szymkowiak, of Natrona Heights. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Theodore "Ted," Stanley and Zigmunt Taraszewski; and sisters, Cecelia Skwortz and Regina Taraszewski. There will be no public visitation. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Our Lady of Victory Roman Catholic Church with the Rev. Alan E. Morris as celebrant. Burial will be private. Arrangements are under the care of the CICHOLSKI-ZIDEK FUNERAL HOME INC., Natrona Heights, 724-224-8688.
