Mrs. Bessie M. Lowrie, 79, of Bully Hill, died at 7 pm Tuesday in Franklin Hospital after a long illness. She was born June 17, 1886, at Bellwood, daughter of George and Alfreta Foust Green.
At the time of her marriage, she was a lieutenant in the Salvation Army, and her husband was a captain, and she continued her membership in the Salvation Army. She was a Gold Star mother.
On Sept. 27, 1907, in Pen Argyl she married Adelmer B. Lowrie, who died in 1950.
Surviving are four sons, Wesley N., Joseph A., Adelmar B., and Paul A. Lowrie of Franklin; three daughters, Mrs. Helen M. Long and Mrs. Bessie M. Cunningham of Franklin, and Mrs. Clyde (Grace E.) Gravatt of Franklin RD 1; 27 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; a brother; and three sisters. Deceased are two sons, Harold E. and Robert D.
Services will be at 2 pm Friday at Burger Funeral Home with Capt. Mervin Sedlar of Salvation Army officiating, assisted by Rev. Frank A. Towers of Fox Street Church of God. Burial will be in Franklin Cemetery.
