Alfred W. Patton died at the Veterans Hospital in St. Cloud, Minnesota on April 27, 1996 at the age of 63. Alfred was born at Sauk Rapids on October 1, 1932, the son of Robert and Pearl (Wiggins) Patton.
Following graduation from Sauk Rapids High School, Alfred was employed by Franklin Refrigeration in St. Cloud. He also worked for Bellanca Aircraft in Alexandria and during the Korean Conflict served in the United States Army.
Alfred was united in marriage to Marlene Kluver on July 21, 1956 at Alexandria. The couple made their home in St. Cloud for about two years before moving to Minneapolis where Alfred began work for Minnesota Rubber Manufacturing. Nine years later they returned to make their home in Alexandria and Alfred continued working in Minneapolis.
Following retirement in 1987 the couple continued living in Alexandria where Alfred enjoyed hunting, fishing and yard work.
Alfred is survived by his wife Marlene of Alexandria; three sons: Alan and wife, LuAnn Patton of Alexandria; Scott Patton of Alexandria; Todd Patton of Osakis; three brothers: Floyd Patton of Sauk Rapids; Charles Patton of Crystal; Raymond Patton of Longview, WA; four sisters; Rosemary Hoezel of Los Angeles, CA; Mabel Banker of Hanford, CA; Leona Walhart of Sacramento, CA; Marie Helmin of Sauk Rapids; and six grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at Zion Lutheran Church in Alexandria on May 4, 1996 with Rev. Kristian Erickson officiating. Interment was in Kinkead Cemetery, Alexandria with Dennis Roquette, Gary Morhart, Lynn Kardell, Ronnie Sax, Ardean Kluver and Jim Rutten acting as pallbearers.
Honorary pallbearers were Floyd Patton, Charles (Donny) Patton, Marie Helmin, Alice Patton, Darlene Patton, Phyllis Patton, Dorothy Patton, Raymond Patton, Rosemary Hoezel, Mabel Banker, Leona Walhart and Hank Schindele. Arrangements wtih Anderson Fuenral Home, Alexandria.
