George Neal Dies, Rites Set Saturday
George Abraham Neal, 69, Freetown R1, was dead on arrival at Schneck Memorial Hospital at 2:15 p.m. Wednesday. He had been in failing health for about 15 years. A resident of this area for some 30 years, he was a retired employee of Golden Foundry. Columbus, where he worked for 26 years. He attended Mt. Nebo Church. Born Feb. 27, 1902, in Harlan County, Ky., he was the son of the late John and Mary Hall Neal. On July 13, 1953, in old Vernon, he married the former Lena Engelau, who survives. In addition to the widow, he is survived by nine children. Mrs. Grover Burdine, John Neal and Mrs. Homer Root, all of Freetown; Mrs. Delmer Bunton, of St. Louis, Mo.; Floyd Neal, of Lexington, Ky.; Mrs. William Erhinger and Mrs. Alois Bequeret, both of Shelbyville; Mrs. Roger Wineinger, Seymour R5, and Marilyn Neal, at home; one stepson, Lawrence Greathouse, of Freetown; two sisters, Mrs. Laticia Denny, of Waynesburg, Ky., and Mrs. Margaret Denny, of Crab Orchard, Ky., 46 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Two children preceded him in death. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday from the Freetown Nazarene Church with the Rev. Kenneth Kritzer, pastor of the Mt. Nebo Church, officiating, assisted by the Rev. William Claycamp, pastor of the Freetown Nazarene Church. Burial in Houston Cemetery. Friends may call after 10 a.m. Friday at the Winklepleck-Weesner Funeral Home, Brownstown, and from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at the church.
