Emily McDowell Collins, 91, formerly of Spartanburg, died Tuesday, May 17, 2005, at The Presbyterian Home of South Carolina in Clinton.

Born August 12, 1913, in Spartanburg, she was the daughter of the late James Frank and Anna Lois MacDowell Collins.

A graduate of Converse College, she was a retired former business manager with the Spartanburg Music Foundation.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Spartanburg, a former board member of Spartanburg organizations: the Junior League, the Little Theater, Arts Council Advisory Board, Speech and Hearing Clinic, Georgia Cleveland Home, and lifetime and board member of the Spartanburg Music Foundation.

Survivors include two cousins, Mrs. James G. Johnson of Charlotte, NC, and Louie Mullikin, III, of Spartanburg.

The family received friends 1:00-1:45 p.m. Friday, May 20, 2005, in the Church Parlor of the First Presbyterian Church of Spartanburg.

Memorial services followed at 2:00 p.m. at the Church, conducted by the Rev. Thomas Herrington.

In lieu of flowers, memorials could be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 393 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29302; or to the Presbyterian Home of South Carolina, P.O. Box 210037, Columbia, SC 29221.
