65yrs 9mos 6days. Son of John Madison and Julia Ann Richardson Jackson of Stokes Co. Husband of Milly Ann Ward Jackson. John grew up in the Prestonville area of Stokes Co. He died while making a fire in the fireplace on Christmas Day 1924. He had run a grocery store in Winston-Salem, as well as worked for a box factory, and lived at 614 E. 16th St. at the time of his death. Father of nine known children, who were: William Daniel Jackson b.Feb. 4, 1884 d.Nov. 24, 1912, who married Lelia May Dunnigan. William organized what is now known as Parkway Presbyterian Church in Winston-Salem; James Lee Jackson b.June 1, 1885 d.Nov. 4, 1952 married Lucy E. Lineback; Mary Ward Jackson b. March 3, 1887 d. Nov. 6, 1887; John Madison Jackson b. Sept. 18, 1888 d. Sept. 23, 1955 married Myrtle Alice Pilcher and Jennie O'Keefe (who was from Florida); Grover Cleveland Jackson b. Aug. 27, 1892 d. April 15, 1952 was married to Mary E. Clodfelter; Mamie Louella Jackson b. March 26, 1895 d. Oct. 7, 1951 married to Charles M. Martin who died in flu epidemic of 1918 and to Clyde Clifton Miller; Hattie Belle Jackson b. Aug. 31, 1899 d. April 14, 1933 married Clarence Davis; Edwin Schley Jackson b. July 26, 1901 d. Feb. 20, 1973 married Mary Ham; Robert Alton Jackson b. Dec. 26, 1904 d. unknown, married Eva Wells Cash and Sarah Marshall Howell. (Robert worked for the W/S Sentinal as a reporter.)
