Sgt. Koch of Morton, Minnesota was the kind of kid that you would want with you if you were over there fighting a war. He was committed and mature beyond his years. He graduated in 2002 from Cedar Mountain High School, where he played football and basketball and was a member of the homecoming court as a senior. He was a very good kid and he wanted to go into the military and serve for our country. He also played trumpet in the High School Band. He was the guy who played Taps at the Memorial Day observance. He was employed at Schult Homes in Redwood Falls from 2002 until 2004, when he returned to school with plans of becoming an electrical lineman. He was a hard worker and not afraid to get his hands dirty. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was the son of Kevin and Valerie Koch and he resided with his family in Franklin, and was confirmed in May 1999 with his best friend, Keith. He attended Cedar Mountain High School, graduating in 2002. Brent furthered his education at Southwest Technical College in Jackson, graduating in June 2005. He did farming for Ed Gaasch, and also did construction for BKC Construction for three years. He served in the National Guard from February 2003 until June 2006. His hobbies included riding dirt bike, snowmobiling, fishing, hunting and trapping. He was 22.
