Funeral service for Mrs. Helen Clark Waites, 91, of Valley, will be Sunday, January 4, 2015 at 3:00 pm (EST) at Community Chapel Church of God in Lanett. Rev. Larry Cummings, Mr. Wade Bence, Pastor Jim Luttrell and Pastor Loren Sutton will officiate. Burial will follow in the Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 4, 2015 from 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm (EST) at Community Chapel Church of God.
Mrs. Waites passed away on Thursday, January 1, 2015 at Lakewood Senior Living of Valley. She was born on November 11, 1923 in Chambers County to Wilson Clark and Lillie Bell Sanders Clark. She was a longtime member of the Community Chapel Church of God. For many years, she served as a clerk for the Huguley Water System. She loved her family very much and prayed for them daily and always encouraged them to put their trust in the Lord and live for Him.
She is survived by her daughter, Genia Cummings (Larry) of Alexander City; son, Daryl Waites of LaGrange; daughter-in-law, Diane Waites of Lanett; grandchildren, Mark Cummings, Christy Barrington (Terrell), Brian Cummings (Krystal), Heather Hendrix, Cara Chambers, Danielle Hanvey (Olin), Dianna Combs (Dustin) and Derrick Waites (Kyndra); eighteen great grandchildren; niece, Diane Bence of Anniston and nephew Alan Clark (Rhonda) of Valley.
She was preceeded in death by her parents; husband, Clinton Alton Waites; son, Barry Waites; daughter-in-law, Charlotte Waites; and brother, Robert Clark.
