Obituary of Charlie Mills, Sr.

Charlie Marvin Mills was born on Friday, May 21, 1937, the first born of Velton Edward Mills and Mary Eda Lee Johnson Mills in San Augustine, Texas. Charlie died at his home in Houston, Texas on January 28,2015 at the age of 77 years.

Charlie was a man of God, and he never failed to bear witness or pray with his family, friends, co-workers, employees. Charlie was a very loving and caring man. He was clearly good to all of his children, grandchildren ,and to everyone he was associated with. Charlie was very devoted to the Lord and always was helping others whether family or friend. He was a very hard worker and worked hard all his life, he didn't know anything but hard work - but that's about like the Mills he was. He was a giving man too, there wasn't a time that he wouldn't give the shirt off his back to help someone. Charlie reminds me of the stars when you look up to see so many, but he is just one point of light in a lot of darkness. Though you may think of Charlie's passing as sad, at least he is helping to light up the darkness in the world around us today, even still .he will always be in our hearts and minds forever.

Charlie was born into a very loving and caring family in San Augustine, Texas. He graduated from San Augustine High School in May, 1955. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and loved the outdoors. He also enjoyed working in his yard and planting beautiful blooming flowers and shrubs. He loved time spent with his family and playing his guitar and singing. Charlie owned Aaron's Septic Tank business and worked daily until his death.

Charlie was married to Martha Irene Gibbs on February 8th, 1958, and they are survived by their three children Charlie(Chuck) Marvin Mills Jr., Thirty Gayle Kincaid, and Velton Edward Mills Jr.-six grandchildren, Amon, George, Callie, Jonathan, Kirsten and Edward. Charlie had three (3) brothers and four(4) sisters. Preceded in death by his parents and his brother, William Edward Mills. He is survived by his brothers Garland Glenn (Sonny) Mills wife Laurie, Eddie Odell Mills wife Betty, and his sisters, Vera Eileen Mitchell husband Bobby, Donna Rae Hammond husband David, Edith Marcelle Ellis, and Deborah Ann Young husband David. Also he has numerous nieces and nephews and other family.

Pallbearers are Garland Mills, Eddie Mills, Joseph Ellis, Shane Mills, David Hammond, and Bobby Mitchell.
