Unis Riggs, 83, a retired Wayne County farmer and father of Mrs. Joy Waters of Noble, died Monday at the Fairfield Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services were conducted today at Richardson's Funeral Home in Wayne City with Rev. Denzil Clark officiating. Burial was in Thomason Cemetery in Wayne City.

Mr. Riggs was born in Wayne County on Sept. 26, 1888, the son of James and Laura (Bowman) Riggs. In 1910, he married Verdie Graddy, who preceded him in death in 1968.

Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Joy Waters of Noble; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Lex of Towanda, Kan., and Flex of Mt. Carmel; four sisters, Mrs. Gertrude Franklin, Charleston, Mo., Mrs. Susie Clifton, Cahokia, Mrs. Edna Jones of Eldorado, Kan., and Hazel Pressnell of St. Louis.
