Mary Matilda Coakley was born in April of 1859 to John Coakley (1825-1895) and Mary Jane Baird (1837-1881), in Hocking County, Ohio.

She married 1st, 27 January 1877 in Hocking County, Ohio Harry E. Curtis. They had 2 children together:

1. Walter August Curtis (1879-1966) m. Bessie M. Worden (1882-1929) on 13 September 1903. They had 2 children, an un-named little girl who was stillborn 18 February 1906, and a little boy, Ira Edward, b. 13 October 1907 d. 27 November 1907.
2. Mary Charlotte "Lottie" Curtis (1881-1965). m. Franklin Smathers 25 December 1897. Together they had 3 daughters and 1 son.

Harry died sometime between March 1881 and 17 May 1883.

She married 2nd William Hiram Blackstone (1839-1924) on 17 May 1883 in Hocking County, Ohio. He was 20 years older than her. They had six chidren, 2 sons and 4 daughters. They were:

1. William Edward (1885-1967) m. a lady named Blanche, and produced 2 sons and 6 daughters.
2. Charles Arthur (1887-1921) m. a lady named Lucy and produced 2 daughters.
3. Maggie Beulah (1890-1926) m. Ora Elmer Clements, had 6 sons and 1 daughter. Ora is twice my second great uncle, his brother having married Maggie's sister Nevada, my great grandmother.
4. Nevada (1892-1989) m. 1st James Sylvester Clements, Ora's youngest brother, 10 September 1909, and promptly changed the spelling of her new last name to Clemons. They had 3 sons and 3 daughters together. The couple divorced shortly after the death of their youngest, TSgt Cloyd Clemons, during the last days of WWII. m. 2nd John Mason, no children. After John passed, she m. 3rd, John Alli, no children. I remember he used to let me eat as many lemon deops as I wanted. I guess I wanted enough to make my tongue raw.
5. & 6. Leona and Opal (1899-? and 1899-1937) I can't find records of Leona marrying. Opal m. 1st: William Tinkham Jr and had 1 daughter with him, and 2nd: William Wells, no children.

After the birth of the twins, Mary's health remained "fragile." She never really recovered from the birth, and died 20 August 1904 in Buchtel, Athens County, Ohio.
