Edna Elizabeth Vagle was born June 14, 1918 to William and Olga Vagle in Estherville, Iowa. She received her education in rural schools. On March 17, 1935, Edna was united in marriage to Robert Plath at Sherburn, Minnesota. After their marriage they farmed in Elm Creek Township, Martin County, Minnesota until 1944 when they moved to a farm in Enterprise Township in Jackson County. In 1970 they moved into Sherburn. Robert died on April 3, 1973. She lived in Sherburn until moving to Jackson in 1999. Since 2000, Edna has been a resident of Colonial Manor in Lakefield. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Alpha, the Birthday Club, Garden Club. Edna greatly enjoyed crocheting and did knit several aphgans and needlework. She loved playing cards, liked to read and was very active in her church.

Edna died on Wednesday evening, September 21, 2005 at Colonial Manor in Lakefield, Minnesota at the age of eighty-seven years.

Her children, Joanne Von Ohlen and her husband, Gilmore, of Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota; David Plath and his wife, Mary, of Shoreview, Minnesota; five grandchildren, Allan Von Ohlen and his wife, Diane, of Cokato, Minnesota, Wendy Corley of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Erin Plath of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Andrea Plath of Shoreview, Minnesota and Katie Plath of St. Paul, Minnesota; three great-grandchildren, Jenny, Connie and Henry Von Ohlen; sisters, Alma Osborne and her husband, Duane, of Spirit Lake, Iowa, Agnes Finley of Algona, Iowa; numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, Edna was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Plath; daughter, Mary Corley; grandsons, Ronald and Gary; sister, Christine Brewington; four brothers, Carl, William, Harold and Roald Vagle and other relatives.
